Mantra.

As sunlight peeks through the blinds of my bedroom window, I pull a sports bra over my head & slip on a pair of running shorts. I toss on a brightly colored tank top, lace up my shoes & stuff my bed head hair under my favorite white running hat. I step outside and breath in the new day. A day greeting me with possibility, refreshed hope.

"You can do this. You are strong."

My heart rate begins to quicken as my feet begin to move, legs turning, arms swinging. My breath steady, in 1-2-3, out 1-2-3. As my body recognizes the motions, I begin to relax, giving into the push & pull of that first mile. 10 minutes of pushing against the pull to slow down, to walk, to bail & head home. I let the negative thoughts flow in, but not settle. I acknowledge them and push them away.

"You can do this. You are strong."

My body continues to move forward, right foot, left foot, right foot, left foot. A meditation within the repetition of my movements. While my body does the physical labor, my mind is able to clear and tend to my spirit. I focus on my breath, a reminder I am alive. I focus on the rhythm of my heart. Allowing my emotions to pass through as they need to. I am able to give undivided attention to myself, listen to what my heart needs me to know. I am so grateful.

"You can do this. You are strong."
